How heavy is a glass of water? You might answer that it is between eight and twenty ounces. In reality, how heavy it is will become apparent dependent on how long you hold it. I recently read and reflected on some interesting things about a glass of water that you may also want to ponder.
If you hold the glass of water for a minute, it’s not a problem. If you hold it for an hour, you may begin to have an ache in your arm. But if you try to hold it for a day, your arm will eventually feel numb and paralyzed.
In each case, the weight of the glass of water hasn’t changed, but the longer you hold it, the heavier it becomes.
Stress and worries are like that. If you think about your problems for a short while and then your thoughts move on to something else, they are not burdensome. If you think a bit longer, you might begin to experience a dull pain, but if you think about them all day long, you will end up feeling wiped out, even paralyzed, unable to do anything.
So…remember to put the glass down.
